Meet Our NEIGHBORS – Brother Ali Muslim

“Let’s take some pride. It’s ours.”

Ali Muslim is a true resident leader who is all about taking action. He helped to found a community garden and organize a block party. He is a former president of the West Runyon Block Association and has served as District 15 Leader for more years than he can remember. One memory that is vivid for him is having his name listed on the same ballot as Barack Obama, which is a source of great pride for him.

“Whatever CHCA needs me to do, I’ll be involved in it. It’s been a win-win for me, a no brainer because they’re doing the same thing I’ve been trying to do,” Ali says about his participation in the Beat the Blight and Beautify the Block campaigns.

To say Ali is invested in Clinton Hill is an understatement. His family has lived in the neighborhood since the early 60s and he has lived in his home for more than 20 years. Through the Block Association, he took a local bar to court (and won) because the activities taking place were not acceptable to the residents. Ali will let people know they cannot litter in his neighborhood. His focus is creating a clean, safe environment in the Clinton Hill neighborhood.
