Clinton Hill Community Action is working with residents and partners to address food insecurity, as a part of the Clinton Hill Coalition convened by Greater Newark LISC.
The Food Security Action Team meets every two weeks to better understand the reasons why neighborhood residents are struggling to put food on the table, discuss ways to help expand the reach of neighborhood food pantries, and promote local food distributions.
Our priorities for 2021 include --
Creating a map of local food pantries in and around the Clinton Hill neighborhood and distribute the map to neighborhood residents
Complete a food pantry needs assessment and use the feedback to guide support provided to neighborhood pantries
Engage a network of at least (6) neighborhood-based food pantries
Provide capacity building support to pantries, connecting them to sustainable food donations and other resources
Establish a food pantry hub that provides storage and refrigeration to help expand the food and goods local pantries are able to distribute to neighborhood residents
Award mini-grants to local pantries through the Clinton Hill Food Justice Fund
